Last week I saw the movie Anna Karenina, and was amazed by the costume designs made by Jacqueline Durran. The designer is probably best known for the beautiful emerald green dress from Atonement movie (looove the movie and the dress so much!). The dresses in Anna Karenina have a truly contemporary spirit with asymmetric bodices and lots of subtle details with Keira wearing Chanel jewellery (diamonds and pearls). Jacqueline studied pieces from Dior, Balenciaga and Lanvin from the 50s, and was inspired by them for the costumes. The movie was like being in the theatre, just walking from one scene to another.
The costumes in every scene were amazing. My favourite was Anna’s black and red dress, so chic, but also reflects the condition of her soul and feelings.
